Thats what im thinking.
I got away with 6 months living in Thailand with nothing particularly taxing to deal with.
On the LAST night of my stay I stepped into the shower and was met by this on the wall in-front of my face:
Suffice to say I trotted out of the bathroom rather promptly uttering "JESUS CHHRHISIITIS". Picture taken from a good 10ft with zoom, took me about 45 minutes to deal with, was well aware of me and was a total pain to get rid of. Met it's demise after being hunted by mortar attack from 12foot in the calibre of 1.5 Litre Coke Zero Bottle. After that I think I am pretty hardened against anything the UK can throw at me.
Don't know what the above was, whether it was harmful or not but I am not sure I want to know nor know how long it had been hanging around the apartment before I ran into it.

I would only ever be 'scared' of a spider if it could do me any harm.
That one looks like it probably could but its hard to say!
I wear an 11 and I would not of been confident I could have got that bugger without it getting away with only a flesh wound
It's an issue when you go to stamp on it and it does some sort of Spider Kung Fu and you end up on your back and in serious trouble....
I'm a size 12 so I might have managed to get the majority of it under my shoe!
Its things like the Black Widow that would concern me, so tiny (so you might not see it in your bed sheets
) yet so dangerous I dont think I could do with living in exotic countries

Big and fast.
Not poisonous, although if one bit you it would take a tidy chunk out of you. Chucking a boot at it doesn't work either, it just eats it...
