What speed should I be able to get?

I would hazard a guess that this would mainly happen on short lines?

I don't know anyone on Max who has a stable connection on less than 3-4 dB SN/R so it must be quite rare.
 
Strange, just tried a netgear router and my stats are now:

ADSL Link Downstream
Connection Speed 576 kbps
Line Attenuation 49 db
Noise Margin 29 db

According to http://www.dslzoneuk.net/maxspeed.php

Based on the values you entered, we estimate that your line can support around 5.7 - 6.5 Mbps.
 
Well adsl max was switched on today. First results arent bad. Had a few disconnects though, is that normal?

This simply calculator will estimate the maximum line speed that an ADSL line will obtain. It will only estimate up to speeds of 8192kbps. Once the performance of ADSL2+ becomes clearer, I will endeavour to incorporate those speeds also.

Is this true from that site? cause if it is im applying for an update from bt im only on 2mb
 
What site?

If you mean MrSaffron's calculator (the 212.23 etc) IP, then it's true enough - it'll only guesstimate up to the full 8Mbps that ADSL will do.

hmmm cant even get on the speed tester at the moment. Pages are really slow etc.

Managed to get on the adslguide speed test and got:

Speed Test Results

Downstream 359.7 Kbps ( = 0.4 Mbps )
Upstream 55.5 Kbps ( = 0.1 Mbps )

I am still synced at 4960 kbps. Stats:
