I am quite shocked how easy it is to overclock this GO chip on a IP35 pro board. I have mine at 3.6 on air idle temps 36c under orthros 70c

By the way is 70c under the orthros mean I have reached my max safe temp ??

2 flatmates upstairs are both at 3.6 with Thermalright Ultra120s.

Don't know if either are prime stable though, they don't really care. lol

my B3 q6600 is at 55-60C at 1.3125V at about 40% load, 3.1GHz. not sure if it is prime stable.

it is in a abit IP35 pro MB, i know i could up the voltages and get a higher OC, but since its a B3 i dont want temps to be too high

Setup is here

I run @ 3.825 24/7, machine at 100% load 24/7 (folding) loads at around 55c with my fans running @ 1500RPM (about 35% speed)

I am at 3GHz, stock volts. Will go up to 3.2 without much hassle, but anything beyond requires upping hte voltage loads and runs too hot.

Edit: with a tuniq

I run 3.4 day in day out at 1.3875V (low 60's), can run 3.6 stable but requires 1.475V and runs too hot for my liking (low 70's).

Got mine at a 24/7 setup of 3.8GHz ... (9x424) and quiet too.
Prime95 Load Vcore is 1.39 temps go to 67C

Will see how this goes for a few days and then see if 3.9 will be ok too :D

3.6GHZ with a Thermalright Ultra120 Extreme. Temps @ full load with prime95 = 61,61,58,58. 1.4v idle and 1.384 load. (16 hours stable)
Personally think 70oc is a bit too high. Although your CPU isnt stressed as much in general use/gaming compared to orthos/prime95, this is winter and when summer comes those ambient temps will be much hotter!

3.6GHZ here too, but temps never exceed 61oC currently, and that's in a room that is 25oC.

Cooloer is a Thermalright Ultra120A and the case is an Antec Nine Hundred.

I can run Orthos for many hours no problems but Prime95 and OCCT keen on crashing ! my PC will never boot to the blue screen or freeze up but they wont run these stress tests for some reason ?

I wonder if its a case of adding more voltage or is it a windows problem.

All so I have the multiplyer set to x9 does x8 make any type of diffrence ?

try uping your volts and see ,but if it plays the games you want then why bother !

I know pretty much nada about overclocking and learned what I needed to from this forum and the Hardocp forum.

Was as surprised as the OP how easy it was to overclock my Q6600 G0.
Currently running at 3.2 stock voltage under Prime max temp was in the mid 50's.

Had it running at 3.6 very easily but felt the temps were a bit high and don't really fancy lapping the heatsink.:p

Wondering if this generation of Intel processors are easier to overclock compared to previous gens, sure theres people on here who will know......
