It's a huntsman only a tiddler though, the giant species can have a leg span of ~30cm (~15 inches to old folk)

I hope you don't measure things for a living, 30cm is not 15 inches.

The largest spider recorded and officially verified is actually 11 inches. There's lots of talk about 12 inch spiders but no verified cases.

Hence the use of the ~ symbol which denotes approximately. Seeing as 1inch = 2.54cm

Lol a 25% inaccuracy can hardly be classed as "approximately equal to "

Deleted User 234324 · 31 Jul 2019 at 07:33

Really who cares about the inaccuracy it's a dinner plate sized spider so still warrants the same reaction and treatment as any other spider.

Kill it with ~~fire~~ nuclear weapons.

11 inch or 12 inch sized dinner plate???

The real question is - has it got some venom ?

All spiders have some

Junglist · 31 Jul 2019 at 11:15

As everyone has already said. It's a Huntsman. Wolf spiders are similar but the way they rest their legs are different

Obviously using man inches, 6 inches is subjective don't you know

In any case that spider is clearly too big so just surrender and do what it says.

Looks like one of those spiders that lays eggs in your ears whilst you sleep:

Oh my lawd no!...

This is why I can't go to Australia

You don't see them all the time. I saw maybe 2/3 in the whole time I've spent in Australia - maybe 3 months total. I saw 1 snake, a few koalas, and loads of kangeroos

Ha, I know that image well - I'm good mates with the bloke that took it, and photoshopped it.

Squid Vicious · 31 Jul 2019 at 18:40

Needs a photo of the OP spider with @wesley hand next to it for a proper sense of scale...

This is extremely dangerous and can handicap a person for life.
I had a colleague of mine and her husband got a spider in his ear canal. I don't know many details how he is doing but his brain is not ok now.

Always protect your ears with the blanket or something else while you sleep!

Got more pictures of this spider
