What spider is this?

So, a little update for you:

The spider in the OP has gone AWOL but that was the least of my concerns as a snapping turtle had made a home beneath the grass bag on my mower. I didn't realise until my dog started barking at it.

Boxed it up and shoved it in the pond across the road. It was an aggressive little bugger.

And then yesterday I went to our old house to cut the grass and almost walked into this thing:

Apparently it's a Yellow Garden Spider. Something like that can't have a harmless name like 'garden spider' so it's now known as 'Giant Death Bringer'. Apparently the bite is similar to a bee sting. I set the house on fire and went home.

This almost landed on my head yesterday. It's currently living somewhere in my garage. I live in Tennessee where so there's a whole host of nasty critters it could be. Black Widows and Brown Recluse spiders are pretty common although it's neither one of those.

I'm also pretty sure it isn't a queen wasp and I'm trying to find out if it has a letterbox.

Any ideas?

Job done, its the only way. :D

GD is losing its touch ! 2 pages and nobody has yet pointed out that its clearly a Queen Wasp because their relative kills them for a living?

Shame.....shame.......shame........
