What Spider

There was one ready to land on me the other night at 4am. Spookily, I woke up from a nightmare just in the nick of time to see it start to descend on its silk. I shot out of bed like never before.

Even if it was a false widow there is nothing to worry about.
They are harmless. There is not even a single recorded case of an allergic reaction, and bites have never been confirmed. If you find a False Widow, think of it as wingless, and less dangerous wasp

You see I think the same but she is convinced it's Steatoda nobilis. She was that scared she took to Google as I put the little fellow back in the hedge , I of course had to tell her it had met it's end under my boot for the sake of a quite night

she is aware false widows are no more harmless than a bee sting?

most people have no reaction to them at all, what next avoid nuts because a minority has a reaction from them?

Definitely not a Widow.

If your wife is worried, just tell her Widows are only really common in the south (such as where I am, see them constantly), they are also basically harmless.

They seem quite common up here in bhm too, I've seen loads on the garden =P

Thanks guys , she has a fobia about spiders hence her blind panic , i dont mind them at all they do a good job keeping the other insects at bay .
