What style number plates do you have?

True, true, but unless they're walking up to it and looking at it closeup 99% of people won't be able to tell your plates are pressed, matte or gloss or whatever I bet!

Need side by side pics of normal vs pressed vs other styles TBH to really see!

The difference is subtle but is noticable in the flesh. The biggest improvement is with the rears when illuminated by LED's, then the 3D text really jumps out.

The plates themselves weren't really that much more than plastic ones at £30 for the pair. Unfortunately I wasn't near one of their resellers so I had to pay the urine taking £7 P+P cost :(

Just plain plates. Used to have GB ones in the past but think they look better without any decals.

Not once been stopped here in Manchester or back home in North Wales, in fact my landlord is a copper and he said as it's so clear it's would only be a very anal bobby that would even care. Plus I have a Welsh flagged press metal as a second set.

Loving the Mlada Boleslav surrounds. So should have bought a couple of pairs when I was there.

Thanks :)

I'd given up hope of finding a set, bought a set of plain ones from ebay then spotted those in the Briskoda for sale section... which had sold about an hour earlier. Luckily (for me) the sale didn't go through and I picked up sloppy seconds :p

Can only find a pic of the old plate but its pretty much the same anyway:

Nice simple dealer fit plates with no garnish, sauce or cheese. Not a fan of 3d letters, pressed plates, etc.

On a semi related note, can anyone recommend a website to order cheap standard UK plates? My car currently has a non-standard font and I've decided to replace it, but there's so many sites to choose from!

Smallest legal UK plate I could get. Helped that I have a 5 digit reg. so isnt all that wide. Could have gone down the smaller Japanese import size ('cos its an import) but its easier to go UK than argue the finer points of vehicle construction regulations with a traffic bobby.

As for pressed plates, are the backgrounds reflective? The DVLA state that this is the reason that stick on plates are not legal, because they would not comply with the British Standard Number (currently BS AU 145d), but if these are reflective, then it obviously not an issue.

I cant see an issue manufacturing reflective stick on plates though tbh, in halfords they use a thin, flexible reflective backing, add the letters on top, and then add the sheet of perspex, all you would need is replace that with a clear film, and have the backing sticky, and press together surely....?

Standard font, euro bit at the side. Look fresher than plain plates. Pressed plates look good on an older European car or classic, but out of place on anything modern IMO.

I have pressed reflective plates with correct spacing and font, they are pretty much legal although I think they need to be made from nikkelite sp?
