What system best to run for gaming

Ive had some difficulty choosing what system to run on my freshly built computer ive been told XP but others are saying Win 7 because its new. Please could someone help

Win7 home will do ya if you're not a business user, It's a superb OS which pretty much takes care of itself.

Edit = 64 bit obviously.

64 Bit Windows 7 without a doubt for any new pc.

Windows 7 x64 Home Premium OEM = cheaper, but you can only use it with one motherboard/pc ever
Windows 7 x64 Home Premium Retail = more expensive, but you can use it with more than one pc. Only installed on one at a time though

Kinda off topic but I had Win 7 HP x64 OEM installed on my laptop, was going to buy Retail when I got my desktop but figured the OEM was worth a try just to see if it worked. It did, activated and everything . And yes it's a completely legal copy bought from a well known competitor, what's up with that?

Read the license. It's only legal for install on one system (ever). You moved it so you broke the license agreement.

It may well continue to work, but it is illegal. Sorry.
