What temperature is your house?

This is why I love warm air - 19 to 22 in a few minutes.

Air flow system? Johnson & Stanley?

I used to have this...only trouble is...just think what cr*p is being sent through those pipes...dust etc.

Also found as soon as you turned it off, cold...house didnt maintain any heat for long...meaning it had to be on for quite long periods...but pretty cheap to run all the same. It serves its purpose.

20 when its on...6:30 am to 8:30 and 16:30 to 21:30

off overnight

and on a weekend I will just switch in on and off if we are in or out the house

again suprised people heat the house overnight..we have a modernish, fairly well insulated house so even if I have been out all day or the heating is off overnight its a very rare event for the home temp to drop below 17 degrees
New side return extension is much better insulated and now protects the sitting room which had a big exposed gable end and seemed to cool much more rapidly, so overall temps are remaining higher for longer

My house is another one where the heating isn't sufficient. It's not helped by a semi DIY attic conversion which isn't insulated properly. There is a rad up there but it never seems to get as warm as the rad in the rest of the house.

It's not necessarily and large house but the rooms are quite big. My bedroom is quite long and it has a too small rad under the main window. It's noticeably colder in my bedroom than the rest of the upstairs rooms.

I keep the stat on 17 overnight and turn it up to 19 in the evening.

Thermostat is set to 18c, if I want to be warmer I'll shut the door on the PC room and that gets toasty.

16-18 ish. Can't get it much higher as no wall insulation and minimal in the loft. :eek:

Shocked how many people have the heating on overnight, glad I am not paying your bills :p

I've been experimenting with doing this during the recent cold snap. The house is very inefficient (single layer brick external walls on three sides - no insulation!) and the only way to keep the bedrooms at a sensible temperature is to leave the boiler on constantly at a low temp (55 ish) with TRVs set to keep the room about 17-18 C. Works well for us.

18 in the day (when someone is in) 13 overnight. Log burner to boost when it's extra chilly!

How do you guys sleep at night when you have it set that warm! Cant't say I've ever had heating on overnight.

Nest is set to:

* 18C when we're out of the house
* 20C when we're sleeping
* 21-23C when we're awake

I just had a look at our 12 month 2016 energy usage figures:
* Gas - 23,950 KWh
* Elec - 5,750 KWh

I never really fully understood the benefits of insulation before I moved into my new property.
I pay less to heat a 5 bed fully insulated house, then I did to heat my last 2 bed one.
Crazy what it can do.

About 12c currently - old Victorian house with a knackered boiler and original sash windows :/

11c here. 
well, it was a few weeks ago when it was colder. Same situation as you though.

Old Victorian listed building.
+3m high ceilings.
Floor to ceilings window bays with large sash windows/French doors.
No downstairs neighbours (present yet) to benefit from their heating….

It normally hovers around 15c any other time. There is poor heat retention so I never think its worth it to turn it on.

Thermostat in the living room is usually set to 19 - 20 at all times.

Thermostat in the hall which controls the rest of house is usually between 19 - 21 depending on how cold it is outside.

During the night we set it to 18 degrees and then come summer we set it to 18 degrees and pretty much never comes on.

I hate to think what ours would cost if we turned it up anymore, Jan to Feb we used 180m3 (2030kw) gas to keep the house warm between 4pm and 9pm, and longer at weekends. Cooking is all electric as well.

As we have a new baby in the house it's set to 21C - 24/7 right now.

Why? a new baby is perfectly happy at a range of temperatures provided adequate bedding and clothing is used 18 would be a much better and cheaper baseline!

I've never understood people with the heating on at night ours is always off from just before 10pm until someone gets up and turns it back on it's no wander the world faces an energy crisis and we all moan about our bills!

Yup. Filtered so shouldn't be anything nasty in there once the asbestos was removed :D

They do run little and often as opposed to wet systems that run for longer but less often.

My heating is off from 10pm until 5:45am
5:45am 30 min boost takes the house from mid 17's (though 15c lately) to just under 19C
Heating then off until 4:45pm
4:45pm to 10pm 20.5c
Weekends it is kept at 20c from 9am until 10pm. Boost if needed.

Heating as hard to work harder lately due to bare concrete floors due to insurance work. But I am in a 3 year old build and have much better underlay's and carpets going in soon so should help keep in the heat even more!

Just for comparison:

Gas: 20,137
Electric: 4,460 (day) + 1,427 (night)

19 when we're in
15 overnight
16 when we're out

If I didn't have a kid I would agree, but id rather it be on and have a good nights sleep then get woken up at 1am and 3am by my child being cold, even in a sleep bag and bedding.
