What the difference between these two WD 1TB Harddrives

Not sure tbh but I would think the more expensive one would be faster.
But tbh it's a no brainer, go for the cheaper one that has a 5 year warranty as your only going to use it as storage so no need for extra performance.

The RE-2 version is the raid edition, designed to be on 24/7, also comes with a 5 year warranty over a 3 year

Personally I'd avoid both. The GP series drives are only 5400rpm so while they have a very high data density on the platters which keeps the sustained transfer reasonable, the seek times are pretty poor.

For storage drives they're ideal, however - they're quieter, cooler running and consume less power than the other 1TB drives around without much of a performance hit, yet costs £30-60 less than the other TB drives on OCUK atm.

The WD1000FYPS is actually a better drive than the WD10EACS. The RE-2 version normally costs about £20-30 more than normal but OcUK have stocked up on the deal price so we can make sure the price is maintained for a good period of time.

The drive can run faster than 5400RPM at times although when it doesn't need to it will run as slow as possible.

great drives and price for those looking to build big storage arrays, plus you get the 5yr warranty on the RE ;)

it's actually an insane price/gb for a RE drive.
