Really mad at the moment. Just had a crash while playing GTA 4 in steam. Rebooted pc and tried to log into steam. Says I need to enter a special code sent to my email???

So I enter the code and it says its the wrong one??? So now I cant use my account??? :mad:

Sorry but this has put me right off steam now. I enter a code THEY send me and THEY disable my account because its wrong!

:mad::mad:

Won't be using steam again!

Edit: I see its this steamguard thing. I am on the same computer I always use ffs. :(

One thing to be aware of - if you click cancel and try to log in again steam will send you a new code each time. Might be why you got the 'incorrect code' error.

No codes sent. I entered the original code correctly first time.

You have no idea how mad I am right now hundreds of ££££ down the pan.

I'm sure you'll get access back. Try reconnecting to steam to trigger another code to be sent out, then enter that.

I agree that it's annoying but realisticly you're not going to lose your steam account because of it.

I had to delete and install steam. It then sent me a code that worked.

Probably over reaction as I don't understand this steam guard thing. I did not even activate it - hence me thinking foul play or something.

I thought you had to activate it and then use another computer? This is the same PC I always use - hence major confusion here and wont be using steam until I do some investigating.....

It seemed to auto-activate for me though my main PC was silently added and I didn't have to enter a code.

You might want to see if there's a way to check how many/what computers are auth'd for it. It's possible, though unlikely, that your account has been compromised and logged into elsewhere.

Don't think theres a way to check. Had an guy at steam reset steamguard and have changed everything on my account just to be safe.
