Stupid answers welcome but I'd also like a serious answer :)

Mr Sexy asked me this morning if I'd seen the strange markings on our lawn and got to be honest I can't figure out what could have made them.
Obviously checked the CCTV and nothing logged.

Bugs under the soil, go dig them out and teach them a lesson or Aliens paying you a visit and leaving behind the equivalent of a crop circle in snow

Not neccessarily something making marks, it could just be where the snow didn't settle/melted early due to unique characteristics that happen to resemble a pattern.

Do any cables like fibre / old phone lines run over your garden, likely water / snow dripping in those spots, we get it on our drive from the fibre cable when it snows here

This would have been my guess, overhead cable, washing line something like that

cat walked over it, left small prints.. snow is now melting and that area has melted more because the snow was squished/tracks were left..

or aliens.

Crack fox

Pretty sure this is a route of one of the many trespassing cats we have, it crosses the lawn up to that far corner however this would mean it's lying down, jumping forward, lying down and so on.

Grudas, I saw no paw marks.

Snow in Stoke on Trent?

I'm only down the road from you Sexy and not a sniff here in Stafford. Stafford is boring in that it never snows here, and if it does, it's just an icing sugar dusting on the rooftops 1 morning per year which is melted by lunchtime.
