What the hell happened to decent instructions?

Maybe I'm getting too old and can't deal with the way **** is going, I don't know.

I remember the days when you'd buy a product and half the fun was reading the instruction manual and learning lots of stuff you really didn't need to know. However, the things you really did need to know were also in there.

These days, even on some high end products the instructions manuals aren't even fit to wipe your butt with. It's not just the content (or lack of), but what content there is doesn't even make any sense. My cat could write better sets of instructions.

No, I don't want to go to your website and download an instruction manual or trawl through forums trying to find some feint hope.

Yeah, I know the internet's changed things blah blah blah.

Muppets.

Instructions for what?

Everything really. My most pleaseurable experiences recently have been with a cheap indoor RC helicopter (OK, I wasn't expecting much) and a Roccat Kone+ gaming mouse.

To be fair, most decent electrical brands still ssem to have good quality manuals. It just seems that with most products that require a level of user input I end up having to resort to internet opinion/guides to get it working optimally.

It's a sweeping generalisation I know.

Good instructions are now in the form of a PDF online or on a CD/DVD. Isn't the Quick Start Guide any use?

RTFM

:)

EDIT: Oh and Forums are a good source of interactive manuals!

A real man uses the product for 6 months and then maybe looks at the instructions to see if there's something they missed.
OP must be female.

That maybe the case, and fine, but I got through school without even seeing a computer (they did exist, just). Everything we read was on paper.

Maybe I'm just thick, but things just seem easier and more comprehedable if they are on a bit of paper in front of me. Wading through a PDF, I just don't take it in.

Pointless rant.

Not sure, tried my manual but my findings were inconclusive. I stand up to pee if that helps?
