Ok so I've had my Steam account hijacked and they managed to get it disabled by using a "hacked cybercafe account". I'm trying to figure out what this is. It's probably a lost cause since Valve will probably never believe that I didn't do this myself, but I'd at least like to know what it is I supposedly did.

Not a clue, do they mean you logged into Steam at a Cybercafe (public place?) and someone managed to get your details when you left? Or am I totally wrong? :p

They just said my account was logges using a hacked cybercafe account. No idea what they are talking about. I have only ever used Steam on two computers. Never used it in a cybercafe or anything like that, and I certainly haven't given my password to anyone.

How did you originally buy this account?

Steam lists accounts used publically in cybercafes seperately from other types of account. You need a different kind of license I think. They also probably get hacked quite a lot though Im not sure how

I originally got the account to play CS 1.6 I think. It was quite a long time ago I set the account up. I had a boxed copy of HL1, or the serial key from it at least, and I put that onto the account.

I had quite a lot on there. Opposing force (boxed), Hl2 (again boxed copy), Sin: episodes (direct from Steam), HL2:Ep1 (again bought on Steam) and GMod. Might have also had blue shift on there, can't remember.

It would cost me a fair amount to get all that back, and I really don't see why I should have to pay again. I bought GMod on the 12th december and I think I played it that day (I did play online for a bit). Don't think I played it at all since then. Then a week or so later I find out my account is disabled and I can't log in.

I think that since you have HL2 boxed, you have a good chance to prove the account is yours. Contact them and see what they can do. Just explain, and don't forget to mention you have a legal boxed copy of HL2 with serial and the other stuff.

HTH,
Scott.

did you use the IP from more than one IP/ISP?
iirc they sometimes screw you over for that thinking you've shared your account.

Cybercafes are small cafes with computers for people to play LAN.

Example: 20 computers in a cafe with games such as CSS, BF2 etc etc and ppl go there and pay £2 per hour to play.

Didn't read the original post, huh?

You can get games moved between accounts normally so try that. They should be reasonable and not punish you for collecting your games in one place.

I would personally avoid placing anything more then 1 game per account for reasons such as this.

If you have proof of purchase then I think thats a strong case

I have used it on a total of 3 different ISPs. Ntl at home, I now how Telewest at uni, and last year I used it on the university of Bristol network while I was in halls.

I'll tell them I have a boxed copy of HL2. Hopefully that will help.
