What the hell is Olfactory Computing?

Ive got some lecture notes and one of the points against using Virtual Reality says

How and when to use "Olfactory Computing" (Shneiderman and Plaisant 2005)

Ive tried google and cant find much

Sounds like using artificial smells as part of the VR.

thanks. Not got enough time to get this book out (again) and look up olfactory computing. Ill just mention it in the exam and says its about smells
