What the hell is this? (Small animal)

My dad found this in the street, what is it? It seems kinda sleepy and slow then started to wake up a little bit, it can sqeek like a mouse.

What should I feed it?

I have it in a shoe box, would like to offer it food but not sure what.

I think if I release it a cat will eat it.

Should I kill it with fire/nuke from orbit/punch ovaries/hit with kb?

Its a vole for sure, maybe a very young one

No water near here, I shall release it into a near-by field.

Life-span is only 6 months, poor little thing.

Well it was alive this morning and sleeping in the shelter I gave it, I had work early, my mum looked in on it at about 11am and it was dead

I dont think it was well at all, it never moved quick like you would expect from a small mouse like creature.

Funeral service will be held at 4pm, RIP little vole

Ah but it was still breathing in the morning, I checked it before I went to work and it was sleepign then. Oddly it died stretched out having woke up and moved to a different position.
