As title...

Just wondering what's the highest voltage you guys have tryed with your C2D or C2Q before you got afraid of blowing / damaging something,,,

Mine has been 1.6250v to try get my C2D 6600 to boot at 3800ghz..but i had no luck with trying to get it to boot at 3800ghz..

1.7 under phase.

Mobo ran out of FSB

There comes a time when vcore (unless under extreme cooling) has no effect.

My 6400 needed 1.6 for 3.8ghz prime stable.

would boot at 4ghz 1.65v on water but would only react to 1.7v under minus temps.

4.3ghz was prime stable under phase

1.6 on air, 1.75v on water. my 6600 seems to do absolutely freaking nothing extra over 1.55v or so. well from 1.525 or so up to 1.65v there was entirely no increase above 3.7Ghz or so. then 1.7-1.75 got me booting at over 3.8Ghz but nothing stable. only briefly.

would assume on my soon to be delivered quad that 1.7v won't kill it but temps would be pretty mental. have to see how the fuzion holds up to my £165inc vat Q6600.

after seeing people's temps on quads - I've decided to push my E6600 higher - so currently on 1.5375V Vcore in bios - 1.49V under-load.

seems quite stable- temps less than 65C - so happy at the moment.

I guessed that since I'd probably get a Q6600 sometime soon I may as well push the E6600 harder - especially with the prices of the CPUs now - and the fact that in reality they have thermal protection etc.

When I first bought the CPU @ £230 quid I was more worried about it blowing - now if it goes - instant Q6600 replacement- so no worries :) !

Mark.
