So i have (had) an ongoing dispute on my insurance and pretty much nothing has been done by my insurance company, quinn direct, for well over 6 months. The only thing they have done is send the regional claims manager down to take my statement and take pictures of the scene. He then told me that he feels comfortable that the case will be dismissed and i wont be affect yad yada. Fast forward to a few weeks back when i get renewal statement through telling me i have zero no claims bonus (should have 3 years) and that they want £1700+ for renewal.
I immediately tried to ring my claims manager Daniel but the number is not recognised so after ringing the insurance company i was told a note would be put on the system and that Daniel would ring me. Fast forward almost 2 weeks and i have just got of the phone with my new claims guy whos at the Quinn offices and not local. After losing my temper somewhat he tells me he was handed my case last week, he said he hasn't even looked at it and that it was stated i was 100% liable for all damages and the case has been closed!!

How the hell can they do this and what the hell can i do?! They haven't collected any statements from the 3 passengers in the car and seem to have just sat on their arses and done nothing and i've been cheated out of my no claims!

Go straight to the ombudsman to be honest. Norwich union have done domething similar to me in the past but I had just come out of court from an old bike incedent and really couldn't be bothered with it all and thus lost 4 years no claims. silly mistake now, as it has cost me more in the long run but I was never gauranteed anything anyway.

They just assumed I was completely liable with 0 investigation, just a phone call. I didn't even want to claim in the begining either, just to let them know it had happened. Insurance is like a lottery for me and I do try and get a decent insurer rather than a cheap insurer. Oh well!

What happened?

Stationary traffic on a hill, she claims I drove into her whilst I dispute she dropped back into me. she went to a personal injury no win no few place and claimed whiplash and several counts of dangerous driving against me. I wasn’t even going to do anything about as my car already had damage to the bumper and there was no affect from the tiny impact.

Why kind of damage did she have if she rolled back :/

Unfortunately from what you said the regional claims manager was "conifdent" you would be cleared he hadn't stated you were cleared. Obviously something has happened since then to persuade them to pay up. Maybe it looked too expensive to fight?

Insurance companies are a real pain if they through in the towel too early as the policy holder gets severly screwed.

Go to the ombudsman as has been said.
It's obvious that they've gone "Hmm, rear end collision. Always the person behind's fault..case closed" and haven't actually bother to investigate it.

there was a stone chip on her rear bumper she claimed i did and a scuff which i failed to see

well i have been in touch with him on various occassions over the months and he kept saying its all fine, i've been in touch with the passengers to get statements blah blah but sod all was done and i am being screwed. I can't afford to be paying a £1700+ again now im at uni and have only just started a working for the summer:( i feel proper helpless and the prospect of getting my car back on the road (can't afford to tax it currently) is looking slimmer by the day:(

is it best just to do this or threaten them with it first to see if they actually do something?

This is what Quinn direct do. If they think it will be cheaper to admit liability rather than fully investigate the case, they will admit liability. They don't care who is right or wrong, they take the cheapest option.

Horrible situation, what I do now is start filiming immediately about the incident including the person, car, damage, etc even if it is extremely minor.

She probably went home and her bf told her to profit from it as rear accidents are always seen as a fault by the person behind.

Isn't it all insurance companies that do this though.

To a degree yes, but in my experience, Quinn Direct are much quicker and have no qualms about screwing you over to save themselves a few quid.

They have grown from a back street broker to a massive insurer in a short space of time, quicker than they can handle and as such their outfit remains highly unprofessional although it does seem to be improving ever so slightly.
