What the **** is privilege?

Lol right, yet strangely these people weren't born that way in previous generations. This fat gene seems to be a recent thing.

well i believe thyroid issues etc can cause some obesity issues, but yeah, like the magic peanut allergy etc there seems to be som recent evolutionary developments that are a little at odds w/ Darwin :-D

We could all sit around and claim others are more privileged than us but it doesn't get you anywhere, in fact, it just makes you a less enjoyable person to be around.

Does that include young people on here that complain about not earning enough money, or not able to afford to buy a house or a decent holiday etc.

Go on then, I'll give a serious reply.

Privilege is the concept of not realising how much better off you are than [insert minority status] because you have never experienced the discrimination they face. For instance someone who was raised in a comfortable middle class family will never be able to truly understand the hardships faced by someone who's family had to work a bajillion jobs to keep a roof over their head. Or how I'll never really get why my girlfriend is scared to walk dark streets alone because I've never had to worry as much about being sexually assaulted.

As ever though, like everything else on the internet, the idea has been hijacked and is now just used to shut down any dissenting voices in an argument, no matter how valid the point is.

Personally I hate the term, but there you go.

That does not mean there are people who cannot lose weight. I, my brother and sister are all skinny and we are triplets born from caesarean. If it had significant impact on weight then fair enough but clearly, it does not or we would notice everyone born via caesarian would struggle to stay skinny.

No one has said that we all have an equally easy time staying skinny but that far too many people lay blame at others for their own shortcomings.

The latest study stopped short of proving that caesarean delivery causes the higher obesity risk, however. The study did not measure gut bacteria in the participants to prove it was different, and other factors may have contributed to the link.

The study seems does not point to any conclusion and since they did not measure the bacteria directly affected by different birth methods, even saying that the study suggests obesity of someone is linked directly to the way they are born, is a stretch.

She said: ‘The plan is to reach 1,000lbs [50st] and become immobile. I would feel like a queen because Sid would be waiting on me hand and foot and he’s excited about it too.

imagine if when she reaches that point one day he just takes her phone with him and leaves the house....

would it be manslaughter to forget to ask somone to feeed your hambneast while you're on holiday?

^

There was more to the picture but she was so big that the file failed to upload all of her :o

This would be offensive, if the behemoth was not aiming to be the worlds fattest woman to fulfil her and her husbands fetish. With that in mind, its really a compliment

I've seen one person sqear blind they've been eating only 450 calories a day for 6 months and not lost more than a pound

....i was later informed it was rude to point out that was utter ********

Wasn't there a guy on here claming his wife ate a stupidly low amount of food and couldn't lose weight? He refused to accept he was arguing against the laws of physics

Yeah, that was the guy.

My take on that situation was that the missus didnt know how to read the food packet or was telling* porkies

*eating

She may have had terrible thyroid issues but other symptoms would probably be apparent in that case.

I think many people are clueless as to how many calories are in what they eat.

Yes, also as to what is healthy and what isn't.

There is a girl in the office here that wont put sugar in her coffee because of the calories but hates the taste without. She quite happily would sit there and eat a bag containing 30 dried appricots thinking it is healthy because fruit... as a snack

They're doing it wrong surely? It's got nothing to do with food... its all down to 'muh genetics' and 'big bones'

I agree, there is too much stupid in that picture to have been gained through nurture. In fact, i would say there is so much stupid in that picture it had to be accumulated and passed down the generations.

It's yet another 'thing' dreamt up by generation *********, it along with all that safe space ******** and new wave feminism nonsense.

Reading/watching anything on the above just makes you feel sorry for the future, and aghast that people can be so idiotic.

My 2P anyway.

I agree with you fully on this.
Just posted that link as it's in papers this morning & thought it was good timing for this thread.
As now people can say 'well its not my fault I was born by caesarean' :D

These people grind my gears, they bring disability upon themselves, if they don't become immobile through sheer bulk they wear out their joints, ruin their hearts/circulatory system, diabetes, digestive problems, stroke risk, the list is long.

They make people with genuine physical problems angry, they have no self control or determination.

If I can still walk over 20 years after doctors told me I'd be in a wheelchair, through determination not to be beaten by muscular dystrophy then any of these ignorant self indulgent morons can lose the weight.

Its the standard thing though throughout the generations, your parents had less than you did at your age, and your grandparents had less than them at their age.

Guess its proof of successfully improving your childrens financial situation generation on generation.

That said, some things (like houses) have got much more expensive and some things (like cars, tv's, holidays) have got cheaper.

A good example is degrees, a couple of generations ago people didnt have degrees, they did apprenticeships and then worked their whole life in the same career, the generation after got a degree (because degree cost dropped, grants got given and their parents hard work had the money to help them out), and now the grants got revoked, but degrees are getting more expensive and theyre now almost compulsory for a lot of careers.
