Poll: What theme / style are you using on the OcUK forums?

There was a purple a while back when the mod were tipsy after a couple of schooners of sherry and started messing about with the forum colours.

I think the same about the dark style - retina-burning white text on a black background. I'd take black text on white over that.
This is why Alternate Style is the better dark mode.

Everyone has their preference, no issues with that.

But how is white text on black more retina burning than black text on white?

On any given page, the majority of the pixels are going to be background, the minority will be text, right? So how does having the majority of pixels black and the minority of pixels white burn your retina more than having the majority of pixels being white and the minority being black? How does that work?

I see what you mean, fair point. I don't feel the same way, the overall brightness of the whole screen is what bothers me, not just the brightness of the few pixels I'm focussed on, but I understand what you're getting at now, thanks for the reply.

Stylus is a really useful extension for firefox that lets you change the colours of every element to whatever you want on most websites, not just auto dark mode or inverted colours. And there are community pre-made profiles for many popular websites. Might be useful to you.

I think it is an age thing. I used to frequent tons of forums and use CSS scripts to force white backgrounds. My elder bro used to be exclusively dark. As I've got older, I now can't stand white themes.

Classic Blue Theme, as OcUK intended.

Any other theme is madness. If I’m going to change theme I may as well go all the way and change forums while I’m at it.
