I'm about to format and re-install windows, what things should I back up as I always forget something. Using Vista Ulitmate 32bit.

My docs
My pics
Emails - how do I back these up and put them back when i have fresh install up? Outlook 2007 btw

My other stuff is on seperate drives so thats all ok.

Only other thing I can think is files for COD4, need to mkae sure I save my rank, what files do I need to back up here?

Sorry for being a total noob.

Thanks

Nick

P.S - Any advantages or dis-advantages going to Vista 64bit? Im worried about software compatability.

Do you know how to write batch scripts? If so how about writting a batch script to do the backing up of your games saves/files to your other hard drive?

outlook 2007 - file -> import and export. export to a PST everything inc subfolders.

COD4 - not 100% sure but theres normally a savegames (or similar) folder within the original installation path.

Andr3w - Nope cant write scripts

neil - thanks, take it i just import them back once im back up and running.

Tolien - The wha? just remembered my favourites though, thanks.

Buy Acronis Trueimage and create an image of your hard drive every week. Makes reinstalling a doddle and backs up all your files etc if they are on the same drive. If the are on a separate partition the there is a backup facility.
Vista64 bit is fine unless you are running 16 bit programmes (highly unlikely)

Bookmarks, history, saved passwords, cookies, preferences - it'll depend what browser you're using, but some (Safari, Firefox, Opera, Konqueror) store the whole lot in one folder (AKA a profile).
