What to buy for external SATA HDD?

Please help!

Boss wants a new external hard disk but it must be as fast as an internal one. The only thing I can think of is an external sata solution.

Not entirely sure what I need as his PCs motherboard doesnt have any sata ports.

So far I have come up with:

sata hard disk
icybox caddy
adaptec sata card

How does the power work? Does the caddy have an ac adapter or do you need to somehow draw the power from the pc?

would that work? where would I get a suitable cable from? sata>esata or esata>esata

Segate are selling a proper esata external 300gb drive but can't find it anywhere in the uk yet
