Nikon SB600 I really want this too!
£350

Fuji Fujica 35 -EE (some kind of really old 35mm camera)

So what would you buy and what is a sensible offer to give for the kit ?

If you want a film camera then the F4 kit is a must buy. I'd buy it for that money just for the pleasure of owning one. I had a 28-85mm on my F801s and it was a decent bit of glass (then).

I don't know why you're so keen on the 70-210mm. I owned one when when they were current (almost 20 years ago) and was not impressed.

Buy the Tamron. It's probably the best lens on offer.

Buy the D70 kit.

Some really good buys to be had there. I have to say that is a very good price for the d70 and sb600 though. I bought an sb600 recently and I've been having more fun with that than I'd expected. Really good deal for that kit.

The people on another forum which im not sure i can name suggest that the price for both the d70 and the sb600 are too high.

Is the d3000 better than a d70, or for a bit more money, the d5000 ? I dont need video but liveview would be a plus!

Yeah, that's the one I thought it was. As I said, I wasn't at all impressed and got rid of it. It wasn't actually bad but the results didn't have that 'wow' factor. I wish I could remember what I got instead, possibly the first Sigma 70-300mm APO.

D70 vs D3000 is tricky but I think D70 vs D5000 is a win for the D5000 except for the lack of focussing motor. The SB-600 in the D70 kit goes for £150+ at auction so <£200 for the D70 and lens doesn't seem too bad. It's not the absolute bargain some of the other stuff is but it's okay.

I would skip the Nikon 70-210, there are better lenses around now (why not just by a new Nikon 55-200 VR, or a Sigma 70-300. Or save up for the Nikon 70-300
VR

The D70 kit is pretty good with the flash included. The 18-70 lens is 260-300 quid new and is a great walkabout (goes about 150-180 quid on ebay). The Flash is 180-220 online. Camera goes for 150 or so 2nd hand.

I would definitely try to get the Tamron 90 2.8, an excellent macro

Another vote for the Tamron. It is an excellent lens and will open up the world of Macro photography to you. It's also a nice portrait lens too.

Thanks everyone who posted in here.

I didnt get the tamron due to current lack of funds, but will be doing so at a later date!
