I'm looking for a hard drive of around 2 or 3TB that can sustain a write speed of over 80MB/s even when it is close to filling up.

Am I right in saying I should just be looking at the WD Black or the WD Red series for my needs?

Not in small non sequential reads/writes, but you'd be hard pushed to find anything suitable, which is why I was digging for more info ;)

only going off atto, but my oldish Samsung 2tb f4 eco green manages around 85/read/write nearly full

empty it manages 130-140 read/write

the newer hdd's are faster still

Yeah sorry forgot to say it will be big sequential writes ranging from maybe 50gb to 400gb over a 3 or 4 hour period. It's for lossless video capture.

Big files - anything new. A green drive might save you a few pennies in electricity, but not much, so whichever is cheaper (guessing Green without looking)

heres what I got with my 2tb,didnt do the whole test as it was taking too long
