Hey all,

Cousins and I are our own 'come dine with me'

We've been to the other 2 cousins houses and so next up its our turn to host :)

There are 8 of us in total and so far the themes we've had are:

Mexican
Indian

So I'm trying to think of what we could cook...neither my sister or I are scared of the kitchen and really enjoy cooking! so we are happy to get stuck in and give this a proper go!

Only requirement is is that it needs to be enough to cater for 8 really...some of the family don't like Chinese food! (heathens!!)

Any thoughts people?

Say with a country theme and what food to go along with it? :)

Many Thanks,
Jake

Go for Med :)

Can have a big mix of stuff. Antipasti, Paella, Moroccan, Lebenese, Greek :)

Go English!

You could do a Ploughman's Lunch style platter to start everyone off, then for main you could do an awesome pie or some posh bangers and mash. Spotted Dick to finish!

Go american:

Onon rings etc to start,

then home made burgers and/or hot dogs, let them build their own, cheese, bacon, fried egg, lettuce tomatoes, gherkins etc, then condiments, tomato sauce, chilli con carne, american mustard.

served with fries.

and banana splits or knickerbocker glories for dessert

they will love it.

American was suggested and I wasn't a fan of the idea...however you've just made that sound immensely appetising! :D

What else would you suggest for starter?

And thanks to all suggestions so far an suggestions to come! They'll be noted down for future come dine with me events :D

If it were me, I would cook an Indian feast. One meat curry, and one vegetarian, saga loo, aubergine bhaji, naan bread. Sorted.

Though, the last time I cooked an Indian feast, it was for thirty people... So the idea of doing it for eight doesn't really scare me. :o

Other starters could be
Buffalo Wings, Fried mozzarella Stick, nachos, Corn on the cob.

every one tucks in and gets messay and has loads of fun,

dessert of knickerbocker glory, or key lime pie, or pumpkin ple.

In fact, you don't live too far from me, can i come.

p.s End thread, i win :)

Chinese can be great for dinner parties, not least because the traditional way of eating chinese is a series of small dishes spread over several hours, so it's less of a mad rush for you in the kitchen!

Usual lineup for a Chinese when I do one for new people: (happy to share recipes if you Trust me OP).

Chicken and Sweetcorn soup with prawn crackers
Sweet and sour tomato veg
Egg fried rice
Spicy BBQ ribs
Chow Mein
Mixed fried rice

Top it off with a light dessert, something like a citrus sorbet works well.

70's could be fun.

Posh prawn cocktail, recipes are out there.
Fondue
Beef Wellington
Baked Alaska.

Decorate the room, fancy dress, ABBA on the stereo.
