What to do about ludicrously large speedbump.

For one speed hump, i really hope you were joking.

Same.

Also it sn't just me who it's affecting. Other students and even teachers agree that it's a menace.

get it in writing that she thinks there is not a problem with it, then drive over it nice and quickly so it tears you bumper off, then go back and make your claim for a new bumper ;)

Is it a brick or tarmac hump? If it's tarmac, be careful not to spill a gallon or so of diesel all over it as it will eat into the surface and turn it into a right mess. So take care.

Easy:

Get there super early and block off the 'special' car park. Force them all to use the normal car park and watch as they damage their pride and joy going over the speedbumps at 5mph :)

Just make sure there are enough people to properly block up the car park :p

So, as per usual, the arrogant student is correct and the world is wrong.

You are having a problem and get a couple of suggestions that mean YOU doing something other than whine and you come up with that great compromise ...
"Why should I re-arrange my life because of a speed bump?"

Ok ... another outrageous idea; instead of lowering your car, raise it!
****, that's no good is it? that would mean YOU doing something to alieviate YOUR problem and you expect someone else to do that.

To be a little less provocative; if they ain't gonna change it you have two choices:
1) live with it and accept the damage.
2) park somewhere else that avoids the bump.
3) (I know but what the hell ) buy a two wheeler for schooldays.

I'm guessing from your "location" that you have some kind of grudge against students? How about you take your opinion of the opening poster out of the thread and cut the guy some slack.

Always wanted to do that with the van, seen it once, looked very nice. Just needs a transfer box and a front diff and it'll be perfect :D

Sorry singlist I disagree, if it is damaging lots of cars, including normal cars then the fact that his car is lowered doesn't matter. Simply measure it and see if it is over 75mm, then get a camera and record people getting damaged and show it to the head.

Infact show a picture of it on here and we can decide how big it is and if you have a chance at complaining.

Wow, who rattled your cage.

I never said I was right. It isn't a case of right and wrong. There's a problem here that needs to be resolved. And if you had so much as read the whole thread you would have seen that it's not just a problem for the students but teachers have also commented on how annoying the speed bump is.

It's not just MY problem. A standard Polo, Golf, Metro, Rovers etc etc all STANDARD and un moddified have all floored out on the bump driving over it at the recommended 5mph or less.

The fact of the matter is my car is my only way of getting to the college, as is the same for many other students and I don't see why I or anyone elese should change the way our cars are; a way that is fine for the 100's of miles I do a month, just for 2 foot of speedbump.

So perhaps you should get back down off your high horse and look at the facts.

No! I aint gonna bite any more ...... maybe I did unfairly take little of my frustration/hatred out on you; sorry.
I stand by the final bit of my post tho' ..... if they ain't gonna change it etc

Maybe your complaint will be the one that makes the difference and something gets done but I somewhat doubt it.

Can I borrow that step ladder to get down please? ..... ;)

Hatred? Wtf? Grow up mate.

Well I don't know what they'll do, that's why I posted here to find out what people could suggest and what the legalities surrounding the situation were.

Gotta agree here, get a couple of you to block the one carpark, have flyers ready to give to disgruntled drivers who now need to use the other carpark showing your concerns. When they "bottom out" i think they'll agree (or cause you the same damage your protest has just made to their car)

The more people you get to do this the better, maybe even tell the head on that date your going to do the "passive protest" (passive-ish)

Make sure you measure the hump though, and make sure it's outside the guidlines suggested.

Best of Luck
