What to do after getting food poisoned ?

serves you right for buying a curry from a supermarket instead of a decent curry house, supermarkets employ students to do this stuff !! god knows whats in them

It can't be from unwashed rice as it gets cooked and there for kills the bacteria anyway.

Spores are very resistant to heat, they can easily be destroyed in an oven but most often rice isn't cooked enough to destroy the spores. Microwaving it for 2 mins does nothing.

just wondering who you would moan too, the store or escalate it?

Definatley escalate it, threaten to complain to the fsa, if you complain to the store you'll probably just get £5 vouchers or something.

I get the ****s from eating asda currys too, I assume it's just the curry reaking havoc in my digestive system. but for a little while i'll be on the toilet every 10 minutes kind of thing, i'll definitely pass a lot of slime.
Seems to only be asda though.

Food poisoning can strike anywhere from 30mins - 5 days. It depends on the Virus / toxin your resistance (immune system) and digestive process. I don't think you said anything about rice......

Obviously there is the most likely candidates for the problems (which will usually be around 12-24 hours) - but stating it's unlikely to be this or that is impossible and incorrect seeing as we don't know what you both ate or did in the days / hours previous to the curry. You also didn't tell us what type of curry (if it's fish/chicken or beef it makes a massive difference to the likelihood of poisoning)

My personal opinion would be it is highly unlikely to be the curry (rice) in question.

The most likely cause was something you both did yesterday - or some place you visited (and don't rule out something at Hospital visits with dodgy toilets, college, school, toilets, nuts in local bars or restarents or even drinks with contaminated Ice in the UK) You may also have left the dish for too long in your car when transporting home after shopping - or the packaging may have been damaged.

I've heard that reheating rice can cause food poisoning. Is this true?

It's true that you could get food poisoning from eating reheated rice. But it's not actually the reheating that's the problem – it's the way the rice has been stored before reheating.

Uncooked rice can contain spores of Bacillus cereus, bacteria that can cause food poisoning. When the rice is cooked, the spores can survive. Then, if the rice is left standing at room temperature, the spores will germinate into bacteria. These bacteria will multiply and may produce toxins (poisons) that cause vomiting or diarrhoea. Reheating the rice won't get rid of these toxins.

So, the longer cooked rice is left at room temperature, the more likely it is that bacteria, or the toxins they produce, could stop the rice being safe to eat.

It's best to serve rice when it has just been cooked. If that isn't possible, cool the rice as quickly as possible (ideally within one hour) and keep it in the fridge for no more than one day until reheating.

Remember that when you reheat any food, you should always check that it's piping hot all the way through, and avoid reheating more than once.

I thought that if it had been a bacteria which releases exotoxins there may have been some sort of vomitting and not simply diarrohea.

What is this almost obession thinking rice can kill you? I've eaten it twice a day probably everyday all my life and never had an effect. And living in hong kong where everyone is the same, if it's so common i've seen it or experience it at at least once except i never knew about it or the danger until i saw it on this forum! To me it's all blown out of proportion.
