OP, I'd get a Socket 939 X2 NOW! At those prices & the fact that the axe is about to fall (if not already), they will become very rare & expensive 
Also, hide your current processor somewhere & sell it when people are paying silly money for them (e.g. like Athlon XP's) 
Other option is to save up some more (£200 headstart) & go Intel Core 2 DUO
