My only key for the pug 106 fell down a drain. The cars on my drive. I've called my local pug and they want nothing to do with it. On ebay and other places I can only get either an ignition barel or a door set or a boot lock never all of them. also theres the issue that I'd have to get the fob reprogrammed at pug to start the car. It seems a total nightmare on something that's ****ed anyway with an undiagnosed brake light issue and it needs a service/mot/tax and suspension at the front.

Think I should sell it as spares / repairs? Would anyone take away a car with no keys?

You'd have to show them some sort of proof of ownership or I think some people might be abit suspicious, haha.

I've said that he still said no. Thing is there's no other Pug place round here and I don't want to start moving it round the North West.

Time to get the spanners out and start taking it to bits :D

I don't have the tools or the space or I would - the block is about half way through it's life

GSF should do the door locks and ignition barrels, you'll have to get the keys programmed as well so your looking at about £150 + any damage getting into the thing. You should be able to drill the locks out, the 106 isn't the most secure car ever.

**edit**

GSF do the whole set for £84.30 - part code: T87543

oh thanks I couldn't find that £ 96.95 delviery and then I need to find a mechanic to do it on the side for £50? or is it a big job?

got down to a scrap yard. most of them keep the keys, so you should be able to find a car with all the locks you need, then dig through the bucket of keys and hopefully find the ones for that car. Will probably cost you about 20 quid.

Another vote for going down to the scrap yard and getting a full set. Afaik those older pugs have a keypad immobilser so you won't be paying lots of money for coding as somebody mentioned above.

It can be a fiddly as **** job to change lock barrells on a lot of cars, as they are designed not to be easily removed or tampered with for obvious reasons.

thats always been a big phobia of mine dropping keys/mobile phone down a drain bad luck but I guess in future youll always get a spare:P?

Pug door locks are easy to change. Remove the door card, remove the plastic sheet. Unclip the cables on the lock, remove the crescent washer thing and push it out of the door.

As for barrels, as djbenjo says, more fiddly, but not a huge ballache on Pugs. Remove the trim round the wheel, get your head in the footwell and unplug the barrell and start undoing screws.

I've only dealt with < '94 Pugs though, which are simple enough, I'm not sure what it'd be like for yours as it's newer, they may have improved security. :p

Is it RCL or just an immobaliser? With all the correct numbers and my spare key for my 306 it cost £60 for an infared RCL key from a dealer...shipped form France.

Oh, and I'd just get rid if I were you, call up a scrap yard and tell them you've got a car you don't want. :p

lol you're making me nervous now.... Just got a full set for £50. He says it's everything plus keys for a 2000+. Better ****ing be I can't walk down there as he's in Bedfordshire :(

In all seriousness, our farm mechanic replaced the locks on my old 106's doors due to them getting mashed by some crim. Those are pretty easy iirc. But then on mine the ignition barrel was fine, and it had no immobiliser.

I can't see it being that difficult though. Could always try getting yourself on one of the 106 forums, rallye register are a particularly helpful lot.

Tom.

Yeah been on 106Owners and found out that mine is 2000 when they changed from IR to Radio wave. So the set I get beter be the same or I'm going to have to get a new reciever on the key and then get Pug to reprogram it. Guy at pug said loads of people reprogram stuff but I've not found anyone they all send me to pug.

Door ones are easy - take the cars out, jiggle the plastic and it's done. Not sure on the boot lol. Come to think of it my passenger lock never worked...

Have you done your front suspension? I've got to get new shocks/springs / bushes and prob a wishbone and ball joint to be safe - did you go OEM or not? Did you do it yourself?

I'm waiting to put a new set of Spax adjustable dampers and springs on at the moment, going to fit it all myself but going to leave getting the torsion bar at the back done to the proffesionals, needs someone who knows what they are doing to deal with that really.

Front suspension is a pretty easy set up really. Make sure you've got some spring compressors and a ball joint separator and you'll be fine, haynes manual has it all covered, and its such an easy setup really. You don't really even have to remove the driveshafts if your a bit savvy. Saves you a bit of hassle on refilling gearbox oil etc.

I've not replaced my bushes yet, but when I do i'll be polybushing the lot. You can get some pretty cheap poly bushes now, so if your in anyway more performance orientated you may as well stick a few of them on, in all liklihood they'll outlast the car. Which ones are you doing?
