What to do with loose change

I go to asda/tesco and use the coinstar machines. Print out the recepit and take it to the help desk to get cash.

I counted just over a £100 once all in 1p, 2p 5p and 10p. It took 3 of us over 2 hours to do it, and we took it to the butchers over the road. His face lit up when he saw it. Never again though.

Don't use coinstar, they take a percentage. Go into a bank and get change bags and count it our yourself. I changed £50 a month or so back and have what must be about £100 waiting in a gallon bottle of whisky at home!

£16 p/h. Not bad!

I got a massive whiskey bottle I chuck all my change below 50p in, Once it's half full I take it down to Asda use there machine then get cash back from the counter minus there 7% I think it is.
When cashed in it's usually well over a hundred quid & has been up in the 180's.

I use self service checkouts for this.

Scan groceries
Dump coins in automated coin feeder/counter thingy

Profit! (Well... groceries paid for at least) :p

If you have little kids, take them to the penny arcades. That'll keep them amused for hours.

Failing that go to the post office at 11:59

Asda have cash counting machines too with a small charge.. We have a family competition .. nearest guess wins all :)

love it.

What I do to avoid any fees or having to count it at all is do a shop at a large Tesco's and go to a self service till, one that was the chute for coins and not a slot.

Drop all the coins in and then pay the remaining balance with your card.

No fee, no messing around counting.
