What to do with myself!?

Not so sure about airsoft, seems a bit fake to me? Sort of like those people that dress up for comics and stuff? (I might be completely mistaken!)

you can, some folk take it very seriously. if you can get a couple of mates and go for a wee rental skirmish see what its like then you can decide if its for you or not, just a suggestion really. although i'll admit there's often a certain mindset behind those that do it. still good fun and a bit of healthy outdoor exercise. there's also paintball, although it hurts more.

the best thing really is to think about something your interested in [maybe even slightly inspired from a game or a film or whatever] then see whats local in terms of folk doing it.

theres some stuff you can do/learn on your own, i used to be into hobby grade rc cars [i'm talking engined brutes not mere argos toys], although its another money sink [i had £2.4k invested in just one car at one point] its more for the tinkering sort of mindset and not good if your easily frustrated. fishing is popular too, although how much you catch seems to be somewhat of a game of chance.

I did my apprenticeship with the local National Park, loads of people do volunteer work too. It's extremely rewarding and you will learn a few new things.

Join a strongman gym.

that's what I would do, but then I'm biased! ;) :D

If you like academia, then studying further wouldn't do you any harm. However, you've just done an MSc - so putting that into practice might offer you better prospects, so I'd suggest doing volunteer work related to your interests. Doesn't have to be Samaritans (though that would be a fantastic gesture from you), but it could be for whatever research/interest you'd be interested in.

Sports are a great way of meeting new people, rugby you don't have to be a monster to enjoy it, on my team there were people 30kg lighter than you, and at 91kg unless you're 6'6"+ that's a fairly hefty weight.

Do you like cars? Bikes? Movies? Do something you enjoy.

Unless of course you want to learn about something new, then just go to clubs and give it a go - if it's not for you then you don't have to worry about buying the kit as they'll rent it to you.

I'm not sure where you live, but sailing and skiing are things I thoroughly enjoy doing.

Buy a £3000+ gaming PC, all the trimmings and stay indoors. Remember that you should be bracing yourself - winter is coming.

When you're not doing the above, lift. Lift like you're the gym brah your username suggests.

I don't tend to have a problem with people trying to hit me.

500 gbp is like 600 euros, seems a bit steep! Might look for a cheaper bike then see if it catches before getting something dearer.

I've had an interest in photography before, but I'm unsure of how you'd "formalise" it into a hobby. Unless I'm over thinking it?

Thanks for the book recommendations, I'll get them ordered and will have a gander. I like the Taleb fellow, especially the black swan stuff.

Had a quick look at the course resources linked and they seem great but vast! Any particular areas you'd recommend? I'm starting out in finance and need to build myself a career. Bit lost at the moment.

Any good math courses as well, as I would like to get more confident at it in general.

You're right about the hobbies, I think I might dedicate a few months to trying out various different ones and seeing if any stick. Hopefully I'll find some places willing to let a new guy try!

Don't you have to be rather "big" to play rugby? I'm 91kg but look scrawny as anything. Not sure I want to be snapped like a twig haha.

Mirroring what someone else said. I'll have to start a bike thread and look for recommendations!

Any particular sports you'd recommend?

Air soft, as you have imagined, is pretty gay. Play tournament paintball. Big European circuits to aspire to, but most leagues have noob divisions. Very good fun, good exercise, but you can always play at the back until you are fit enough to play the snake. Should keep with your budget (2nd hand markers are fairly cheap so you would just be paying for paint and green fees after that).

Photography can get extremely expensive, but it doesn't have to be. I find it's a good motivator to get out of the house. Can be done on a rainy day in as well as a nice day out. Very creative outlet, but technical enough to be engaging.

Airsoft is pretty much exactly the same as paintball except with BB's everywhere instead of paint. And it's good fun. You can't really compare it to Cosplay they're quite different. And so are the kinds of people who enjoy them.

Paintball is also pretty great. Gym is another good option. Try some things out. If you don't enjoy them try something else. :) Loads of good options already.

Indoor climbing, try out bouldering as well as top roping to start. Don't think you know what it's about until you do it a few times. I never thought I'd be in to rock climbing (didn't like heights much) but now I'm obsessed. :)

Try find a local paintball team, teams usually play sundays and can do as much/little as you want really.

Though can get expensive when you want every new gun :p

With your free time and lack of woman, I heartily recommend a hobby of stalking. Human interaction at a distance.
