Hi guys,

We have about 25x 17" working CRT monitors and about 15x Celeron 900 PC systems at work which are obviously no longer used.

Any ideas on what we could do with them?
I was thinking of wiping the drives and giving them to staff.

Other ideas are giving them to a charity, or towing them behind a minibus and seeing how easily they break :D

Mal :)

I had a load of old IT stuff to get rid of before Christmas and I found that schools and charities weren't interested so I ended up paying to get them disposed of.

We did consider giving them to staff but when we've done it in the past the staff seem to think that the PCs come with Windows, Office and a free 24/7 support contract. Rather than deal with the hassle and arguements we decided not to offer them. In the long run, it was cheaper (time vs money) to get them disposed of.

well i could do with a pc and 2 monitors!! :D

One company i worked for sold all their desk chairs in 1 wing when the huge contract was coming to an end and they set a fixed price (£10) and then gave the money to charity!

Will stress that they come with NO software and NO support.

Good luck!!!! unfortunatley it never works like that, i still get called about PCs from 3 jobs ago...

we are currently palming off a load of old PCs & TFTs to the local hospice, quite a lot of work involved getting them prepped though and i'd rather skip them (bah humbug)

Think i'm gonna offer them to Staff.

I'm an IT manager in a school and we wouldn't want them. All P4 here!

Will stress that they come with NO software and NO support.

Cheers,

Mal :)

As a fellow IT Manager, please do not give them to the staff. No matter how much you tell them they will expect support, bootleg software et al.

Especially seeing as they are teachers! ;)

Bin them, bin them quickly or do what I did with 15 Celeron 700s and give them to primary schools.
