Hey guys, just bought the 60gb SSD on offer for no reason other than it was a bargain. What the hell can I do with it?

I already have a 128gb Force 3 SSD with the O.S and stuff on it. Can I raid them both together?

Any ideas on what to do with it? Cheers.

The problem is they are different sizes. So any RAID setting is going to mean not using all your actual space.

Maybe just as a separate scratch area for music and pictures?

Yes. Very much so if u create a raid 0. No redundancy but faster reads and writes. SSD is already very fast, so u should check the max bandwidth of your raid controller first...especially if your using an onboard one. But you'll no doubt be fine.

What speeds u get on the current SSD? With luck i.e. near perfect scaling, you could double your speeds I think.

Personally I don't need that sort of speed, so I have various RAIDs using spindle disks...

I guess taking a step back...It does depend on what you will do with it. I move lots of virtual machines around, plus media...I could use raids
SSD but I need TB not GB....and I'm not rich :-(

I have just done something similar. I run a Sandisk extreme 240Gb for a main drive and I bought a vertex 2E 120GB. I may just put it into a USB3 caddy for a big flash drive to boot from and run an alternative OS.

I think there may be something wrong! I am a noob with SSD's. What the hell have I done wrong here:(

Download and run ATTO. Otherwise the test looks OK, access times are a bit high.

That is reading your c drive. note disk size. reads are much higher than sata II and writes are also up to 128kB.

My SSD is my C drive? Not sure what you mean....

Your reads are fine. My SSD is much slower...it is 4 years old though. Your writes are bad though...it should continually get faster the bigger the transfer. Does on mine at least. Not at machine at the mo so can't upload an ATTO.

Ok thanks. Can anyone else confirm that my writes are bad, and is their anything I can do to make them better?

Would it be something simple like having it plugged into the wrong SATA port or something?
