I took out insurance with Quinn Direct on the 1st April. They said I needed to give them proof of my no claims by the 22nd. So obviously I sent out a letter with proof of my no claims from my previous insurer asap which was the 4th of April via recorded delivery. Now they are still saying they haven't recieved it even though the Royal Mail site says they have delivered it. And they say if they haven't recieved it by this Saturday then they will double my premium. I have told them they can ring my previous insurer and they refuse to do this and that they need it in wriitng.

Really stuck on what to do here apart from pay my previous insurer the £15 for a duplicate copy and repost it - but the same could happen again.

Any ideas? :/

Send them a copy of the proof of postage. Don't you have anything else you can send with proof of your NCB?

I sent my insurer a photocopy of my old cover note, along with a print out from CIS's website showing the discounts.

Alternatively, you could ring them up and tell them it was an April Fools joke :D

well, you sent it recorded so, If the post office are saying they delivered it they must have it. You could try to find out who signed for it then quote the name of the person to the insurance people saying that it must be lost in their office.
If they have lost it why should you pay for their mistakes ?

Theres also one slight problem.

I seem to have lost the proof of postage since I posted it. I checked it the day after I posted it and it said it had been recieved so thought nothing of it. And now I don't have anyway of bringing back up the details.

 at me

What a rubbish insurer. When Norwich Union took ages to send me my proof of no claims, Admiral were more than happy to contact them on my behalf.

Alternatively, next time you ring up, if they say they didn't receive it yet you have proof they did, threaten to cancel your policy. They will soon change their mind and find it.

And now I can't get through to them at all, wonderful.

Wish I'd just gone with Admiral for the extra £50 or so :(

How did you check it the day after?

You cannot check recorded items until 7 days after postage.

If you checked online, you might still be able to find it in your internet history.
