what to do

I have a friend looking after the house while we are away on holiday next week.
Thing is he has a tendancy to break computers quite easily, how he manages it i do not know ???, once took a gfx card out of a computer still running, accidently formatted his HDD with all his uni work on, accidently dropped a can of stella on a brandnew motherboard.
Do I hide my computer ? or do I password protect it via bios and windows ? or not let him look after the house ?

Unplug, hide it and threaten him with death, should he feel the urge to use it.

Hide your computer. Then hide the power cables and the various other cables in another part of the house, so if he does find your computer and have the cheek to try set it up and have a play he has to get either his own cables or be enough of a git to go rooting around your house to find where you've hidden them.

Don't do this and don't password protect the bios/windows.

If you do these sort of things he will fiddle with it to try and get it working ... and likely break it from what you say.

Hide it completely or have someone else look after it if you are that worried ...

create a standard user account, and let him use that.

ask him not to open the case

on a more personal level, he will use your computer to fap

Is he staying at your house or just checking up every now and then, moving mail away from the door etc? If he's not staying I don't see why he would be using your computer. I know I would be in and out to do whatever it was I had been asked to do.
