What to do?

Hi all,

I have a bit of a situation and i'm not really sure what to do.

A few months back when I moved back into my parents, a friend offered to store some things for me including my gaming rig as mother didn't want it setup whilst we were selling the house.

I have had another offer a bit more convenient for me to store my stuff and now every time I phone her she refuses to answer the phone. I've rang the person on a landline and she answered and put the phone down on me.

Now obviously i'm quite keen on the return of my things, where do I stand legally? by refusing to answer me in effect she's refusing access to my property. Can the Police do anything about this?

a bit odd.
go round and take it back.

legally you are on shakey ground - she could say you gave it to her. what can you actually prove? i wouldn't be surprised if the police do nothing and you would have to go through the courts.

but really, just go round and dont leave til you get your stuff!
 
Just managed to get in contact with the person who is there.

Thankfully it appears my Computer is still there. Not sure about the rest of the hardware though. Along with most of my games and some blu rays.

My double bed has also gone.. she told him to get rid of it.

I still have proof of ownership of the bed of things? is there anything I can do legally?
 
lol sold it all or dumped it... Get what you can, cause a verbal fuss if you want, and move on.

im sure you can go to the Rozzers or Judge Judy ?
 
She worked as a volunteer for me for a while and then moved on.. heard nothing else from her?

I know she got booted from the volunteer schemes but through nothing I've done, it was her own doing.

I spoke to her 3 months ago and all was well as far as I was concerned.

Spoke with the Police they said I need to go down civil route first and get a list of what is missing. If she doesn't respond then I need to file a report with them and they'll get her for theft.

The story is.. she told the ex who moved in after her that he can get rid of anything that is in there... so chances are most of my hardware and software have gone :(

Nice of her to tell you before she allowed someone else to not only go through your stuff, but also gave them carte blanche on what was going and what was not.

Let's assume that the remaining stuff was kept because they wanted to keep it, not because it was being kept FOR you.

This sounds totally bizarre. I wonder what the other side of the story is? A computer base unit is hardly huge anyway so quite why it's neccesary to 'store' a £1000+ item thats what, about half a foot by 2 foot by 3 foot, with somebody is confusing.
