im stuck in a dilema i have 2 choices and need some help.

its either a 22" asus widescreen monitor + ocuk 8800gts.

or

BFG 8800gtx.

i will be able to get a monitor in about 3 weeks after the gtx but what would be the differance, how long would the gts last me and how long would the gtx last me, i have primarily made this new pc for when Crysis comes out and want it to last at least a year or two before i upgrade.

im currently on a really old Olivetti crt DSM 50-172 monitor, it works fine but i want a widscreen lcd.

i dont mind paying the price now, i cant go over about £415 though and i dont want to spend that much on 1 graphics card, the bfg 8800gtx is quite enough what im going to pay.

trying to get rid of my noisy P4 6800gt set up.

Get the widescreen and the GTS, then upgrade again to the new series of cards that will be out when Crysis is here, pointless buying a 6 month old card now for games that are not here yet, the 8 series are the slowest cards you can get for Crysis. :)

How are the 8 series the slowest cards for crysis when we dont even know what system specs are for it yet. Plus the guy in charge of crysis said a 7800 gtx would run crysis on max settings ;)

thats exactly what i have been thinking really, what have the team behind crysis been running it on to show these movies, 2 8800gtx? so them im pretty sure that a 8800gtx will run on it with max settings and a high resolution.

am i right? or wrong?

i thought it had dx9 and dx10 support so most people could play it and i remember seeing a video with one of their cheeses saying how the settings are very flexible to meet most peoples needs

I hate to play devils advocate but:
I would suggest get the 640mb GTS or a GTX, and get the monitor a few weeks later.
Yes there will be faster cards when Crysis is out, but either of those should play it at reasonable frame rates TBH.
That would be my personal decision ... add to that wait to see how the XT fares in price and performance to a GTS when reviews are out, you only have to wait until Monday so not long to lose if it doesn't hit the spot :)

which is a good widescreen resolution to play at with a 22" screen in widesceen which is what im going to be playing at.

also anyone got h/d/w ratios for a 20" dell and a 22" dell, i want to know how much of a differance their is between them both, because if their isnt much differance and £50 between the price i know which one i would go for.

how long till crysis is out?
