Hi guys,
I have had a canon 400d with a standard kit lens and a sigma 70-300 lens for nearly 2 years now. I got for when i went to florida last year but i have not really used it much.

I am starting to mess around with photoshop a lot now, not that im any good but hey we all hae to start somewhere, i also use aperture and recently got lightroom.

But none of this software is any good unless i have good photo's.

My question is really, what should i start shooting, i have seen really class photo's on here and in other places. I live close to some lakes etc. and a large city, i am also surrounded by a lot of countryside.

Hope you guys can help

If your king4aday :p

Look around your room, MAKE things interesting! theres plenty of things to shoot :)

Ok, you need a starting point and then I'm sure you'll have plenty of your own ideas, so here is a possible start:

Go to a lake either at sunrise (get there before the sun rises) or before sunset (get there before it sets), put your camera on a tripod and do some slow exposures with a small aperture. Look for a nice background, and try and have some foreground interest...a pier, a rock, a corpse, anything that can add interest or maybe even make a statement. Even litter.

Thats a decent starting point and with some luck you'll end up with a few useful shots. You will also start realising what the problems exposing properly are, look into how to solve them with filters, bracketting and/or post processing, etc. And thats landscape photography in a nutshell for you.

bit of an odd question really imo..

shoot whatever you want to shoot, that looks/feels interesting to you. dont conform to what everyone else should find interesting.

You have not said where you be Liveing yet----If there be any boats on that lake then do some close ups or make sure the image of boat is showing in the water n take both or just the image..Landscapes/Waterscapes..people fishing..dogs paddleing..
Loads you can do there..Good Luck
