If you are thinking of buying cheap computer stuff over in Asia you will find Singapore is more or less the same as UK prices (depending if you declare from vat and import tax on your return).
I would imagine Thailand is the same if not more expensive.
If you do come to Singapore with an aim to buy computer equipment then know your prices especially if you intend to visit Sim Lim as the people there will rip you off if at all possible (low magins and high rentals). There have been a number of cases of the shop keepers turning violent too. Not the best place to go unless you know what you want and who has it at your desired price. Most shops have people handing out flyers and there are a few websites that copy and put them online if you google about a bit.
Funan Digital Life Mall is probabily better for a tourist as they are more retail stores with fixed prices.
Note GST (Goods and services tax) is 5% over here but as just about everything is imported, the base cost is usually higher.
I bought a HP laptop a few years back when just visiting here. Thought I got a good deal then found out it was the same price in the UK
