What to stick a rear view mirror back on with?

This is the mirrors main use! (thought I was the only one too)

That and checking people right up your **** whilst there on there phone/putting makeup on! And making a bit of clearance between them.

My personal favourite is the gridlock traffic "Nobody is looking" bra adjust :D:cool:

exactly

how do you think white van man manages.

you cant see a lot out of a rear view mirror pointing at the back of some van doors ! granted some have glass in them but most dont.

They still have them though!

And I guess the terminology in interior mirror, not rear view mirror. Which can apply to all those mirrors. Though I have yet to find a page where it states which mirrors are required! The "Summaries of construction and use regulations for motor vehicles" seems to have the applicable table missing!

No, they dont have them. A mercedes sprinter, a ford transit, etc etc, do not come fitted with an interior mirror. You do not need one, they are not a legal requirement at all. I am hiring a mercedes sprinter every week at the moment, so yes i am sure :p

My wife handed me the rear view (internal) mirror from her car yesterday, apparently it just "fell off"....

Anyway, I got rid of the old pad that was stuck to it/windscreen, cleaned it up with some acetone, went to Halfrauds and bought a couple of pads designed to hold it back up, heated up the windscreen/pad with a hairdryer and stuck it on, the pads are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard and the mirror is wobbly.

What's the best thing to use? Don't want to use superglue or epoxy resin, too messy, it needs to be some kind of pad that'll go solid rather than stay spongey when cold, any ideas?

I used that when mine fell off and it works well. Very strong.

You need a drivers side mirror and one other for your vehicle to be legal.
Vans can be fitted with rear view mirrors, but these tend to be mini buses.
Anyway back to the topic, have fitted many rear viewe mirrors without any issues.
First off remove any remaining adhesive on the mirror, even removing the paint down to the bare metal. Next get a good solvent cleaner or brake cleaner and clean both the mirror and the windscreen.
Next thing to do is fit the sticky pad to the mirror and then slightly heat the sticky pad and the windscreen very slightly on the screen now stick the mirror on the screen and hold for a minute.
Now then whilst holding it on adjust to correct position and do not touch for about a day while it sets.
Always used this method and never had one fall off yet...

You do know thats illegal . . . . ?

(At least, I am 99% sure it is)

Any independant car place, Halfrauds is not the bet place, putting profits before, well, anything else tbh.

LOL, so all vans are illegal :p my can doesnt have a rear mirror nor does it have glass in the rear doors

I've tried pads and glue, both failed :(

In the end went to one of those windscreen guys in the car park of my local BnQ, cost me a cup of coffee from the chip van

Hey, Im gonna bow out now . . . . :)

Anyway, was looking around at all vans I saw today, they ALL had rear view mirrors. . . . :p

Most vans come from the factory with rear view mirrors, even if its a panel van with no rear windows.....

Usually, they are snapped off as part of the P.D.I.

I've not found an HGV yet that has a rear view mirror. ;)

As i say, i have rented a van every week for the last god knows how many weeks, had loads of different ones. None have had rear view mirrors, as they do not have any rear windows. The central mirror is not a mirror necessary for driving. I guess you could use it for reversing a car with a rear window, but then surely you would just look out of the back :p

I had a mooch in the garage yesterday afternoon and found some 1hr Epoxy Resin, slapped a little on, taped it to the window overnight and all it well again.
