Hi,

I at the moment I have a Q6600 @3.33, 4gb ddr2 - at about 900

and a NVidia 260GTX.

Im wondering if any of those are a big bottleneck? Or they both about the same in which case ill upgrade the lot.

At the moment im thinking that the 260GTX is the bottleneck, the Q6600 is still not that bad is it?

Thanks,

The q6600 is still a capable CPU and if money is tight i would upgrade the gfx card (460, 5850 or 560 depending on your budget) to tide you over until you can afford a full upgrade.

Or, sell your existing kit and offset it against a new build.

Hi Dan,

I posted same question other day and got the same view, although I am finding it a tough call.

A gpu upgrade is all you/we should really need...but I so want new stuff. ;)

I would agree that upgrading to GTX460 or 6870 would be your best option. If you can stretch then consider the GTX560Ti. The Q6600 is still more than capable for most tasks. You could also consider a small SSD as a boot drive perhaps?

Brilliant - thanks for the quick replies guys!

I was just going from the forum and it does seem that my CPU seems still up to the task - especially overclocked.

Leaning towards a 560/570 at the moment.

I have a raid 0 setup for my boot drive so its pretty fast for that :D

I think Ill get a graphics card until January time and then upgrade the whole chipset - Graphics card should still be decent then too.

Thanks again!

Could anyone recommend a 570 for a good price?

We can only recommend what's on offer at OcUK - but their prices are very competative especially once you've generated enough posts/forum time to get free p&p.

The MSI is on a this week special link

EDIT: the 560i are very good value for performance.

Yeah I meant from this site :)

They all just look similiar, I wouldusually go with Asus but they dont have one in the OC range.

The 560ti - Obviously a lot cheaper, how much performance wise do they lose compared to a 570?
