What to upgrade in my rig?

Hello people!
I have been wondering what is holding my current rig back? The following is what's in it, what i use it for etc:

These are the hardware components it is made of:
Processor: Intel Core2Quad 2,4Ghz Q6600
RAM: 8 Gb Kingston HyperX DDRII PC1066
Mobo: ASUS P5B Premium Vista Edition
HDD: 500 GB Samsung Spinpoint T166 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache
eHDD: 2,5 TB
Graphics Card: Gainward GeForce GTS 250 Green Edition 1024MB GDDR3
PSU: Corsair VX550W

I have 2 monitors attached and i usually watch movies/series/dvds on the second screen while playing on my main monitor. Problems seem to appear whenever i have several programs running at the same time, yet it seems that there is still plenty of unused RAM and Processing power left.

Just say if i forgot to post any information. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
 
Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

Is your Q6600 at stock or overclocked? If it's still at stock it would be worth clocking it for some free extra performance. Most will hit between 3.2Ghz and 3.6Ghz with a half decent cooler fitted. A better graphics card may prove beneficial too.
