What tools do you use for working on the PC?

I was just wondering. I have a drawer full of random screwdrivers and tools. Not terribly organised. I would love a decent kit with a quality screwdriver and all the bits and bobs needed. I have seen a few but they include things you would never use or need.

Just wondered what other people use for working inside pc's and laptops? Do you have a kit or just the odd screwdriver?

One screwdriver fits pretty much everything in the pc anyway, mobo, pci, 5.25 bays etc. It's all the same size of screw head. Is it really worth getting a proper kit?

Anyway, lets here your thoughts?

I have one single star headed screwdriver, my current case only uses normal screws for the fans, my fan controller and the bracket for my cpu cooler, tool less pci slots, thumb screws for the hdds, case panels and the mobo tray standoffs, clip system for the optical drive.

A couple of screw drivers (pozi and flat) as the bare minimum, normally I also have an anti static strap and a few other things that are handy (something to pick out dropped screws for example).

I have a main tool case with my spare tools in, but mainly use Pozi drive, Philips, long nose and side cutters.

Phillips/pozidriv screwdrivers of all sizes, a few flat bladers for that one screw you cant get out, some Torx drivers for odd stuff, pliers, snips, some plastic case opening styluses, Lian Li standoff tightener, anti static wrist band a magnetic pokey tool for retrieving rogue screws.

Sledgehammer............;)

Screwdrivers (as others have said) plus a small hex socket for tightening standoffs and a small pair of pliers to cut the ends off cable ties.

Don't buy a cheap set of screw drivers, get a good brand, as cheap one's are usually made of soft metal. Then the screw driver tips get chewed very easy, which end up chewing the screw head making it harder to get out. :)

Mine's a bit overkill tbh... has soldering iron in it and all sorts...

However, what I'd actually say is needed, is a 4 set of screwdrivers, a magnetic expansion thing for when you drop the screws and then spend the next 20 minutes swearing as you try and get it out of wherever it fell. Probably an led torch for looking into the dark corners, and uhm, think that's about it. Did use a pair of pliers in a rebuild once to try and get a IDE cable out of the DVD drive.... oh and an anti-static band.

Most people would say even that's overkill...

Just the job, you can keep all your tools, spare cables, hardrives, etc, makes live a lot easier as everything is in one place, when working on a PC -

Had to resort to a pair of pliers earlier. I was fitting two new 140mm fans in my case, the screws wouldnt cut the threads enough on the fans, one screw got stuck and wouldnt shift at all. Finally got it out with pliers. Chucked the screws in my bits drawer and mounted the fans with rubber bolts instead. Gonna get another pack to use on my two rear case fans.

Screwdrivers (as others have said) plus a small hex socket for tightening standoffs and a small pair of pliers to cut the ends off cable ties.

I've used a hex socket in the last couple of builds & shredded the threads as a result - don't know my own strength  :p

Done them up hand tight since.

I've always used a pair of nail cutters to cut cable ties, also handy to cut them off, plus a small jewellers screwdriver to undo said cable tie if you just want to loosen it or you want to re-use it. :)

i use a flathead, phillips, bought a plier grip today to fit standoffs, they where really stiff so added that to the tools. got a little ocz bag with my psu, i keep cable ties, spare cables etc in there. have a huge box under the bed with fans, adapters, brackets etc.

I just use 1 phillips screwdriver. However if a screw gets fuzzy i'll use a flat screwdriver or a pair of pliers to loosen it.
