What Torch Should I Buy? - Fenix LD1 Review

I've tried a couple of the "bundle of bulb" type torches and they give a nice working glow for about 5 foot then the light disperses too much for my liking.

Anyon got the 100 led from auction site. 212 lumens about a tenner

Yep. Got that one too. Its light output looks exactly the same as the 28LED version I've shown there, however its far bigger and heavier.

Unfortunately its quite fragile inside. I've had to re solder the internals whenever I've dropped it. Now I've got the 28led version, I binned the 100 led one.

On the upside, the batteries do last forever on it.

Dunno if this has been mentioned, but LED Lensers are the way forward, I've loads of them and they are awesome pieces of kit. I've gone one everywhere, one in my car, one in each of my bags and two in the cupboard etc! there ruddy fantastic! :)

take a look!

Although Fenix is very good, prices are on the steeper end these days, and they are definitely more top-end. Because of this I personally wouldn't recommend them to a casual user.

I have most Romisen's models (as well as a few fenix's I might add) and quality is on a par, if not surpassing in some instances of fenix for a fraction of the price.

For anyone wanting a cheap powerful LED I recommend you checkout the following roundup of comparable budget flashlights: http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=188590

A Romisen G2 for instants will get you the same build quality as fenix, has a turbo head for better throw, just uses a lower bin cree, but will cost you £5 shipped to your door!

Dragging this thread up from the depths.

I'm wondering about getting a Fenix TK10 but i'm slightly at a loss as to what the difference between that and the P3D is? Is there actually any point in paying the extra £10 for only the (from what I can see) tactical grip? Or am I missing something?

I have a T10 (I'll try and get some photos up one day).
The T10 and TK10 have larger reflectors than the P series. A larger reflector usually (but not always) results in a better focused beam (more distance) or a wider smoother beam (area illumination).

where can you buy the G2 for £5 ?

I like my Mag.
I've just got a small 2x AA LED Maglite.
Nice and bright, very white light and does the jobs I need it for - looking inside PCs on the floor, power cuts, electrics tripping, walks in the garden at night.

not sure if it would be classed as a competitor if they are not in the UK, anyone care to confirm?

Can the G2 take P60 drop in's? We are talking about Dx arnt we?
Yes we're talking dx.

Surefire G2 Yes.

Romisen G2 No, head is much smaller, although romisen do 2 lights which will take them: check here for a list: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=186661

If your after a good dropin host I have most budget ones and would highly recommend the Trustfire T1, its nearly comparable to dereelight quality, infact it looks a lot like a CL1H and huntlight mixed together.
