What TV shows are you currently watching

Dept Q, 3 episodes in and liking it a lot. High up on the list of stuff watched this year.
Now finished it and it was the second best thing seen this year (behind Andor S2)
Really enjoyed it and also the side quest of how many of the actors had appeared in Still Game :D ( I counted 4 )

The Four Seasons - 1/10
Complete waste of an amazing cast. I hate-watched it till the end and I don't know why. Couples with seemingly unlimited piles of cash holidaying in various locations with comedy and drama antics afoot except neither of those things happening. Basically The White Lotus but complete crap. The 1 is for Tina Fey because it's Tina Fey.

Oh yeah, Steve Carrell's dead now. lol

Reacher season 3
8/10
just as strong as the other seasons and definitely up for more
looking forward to Neighly spin off but not happy about the massive wait between seasons it will likely be back end of 2026 before we get S4

Death Valley 4/10
Another comedy murder detective series. Tries to be a Welsh Murders in the Building but fails. A few humorous bits but the leads aren’t appealing, shouty and silly. Stories are unoriginal and won’t bother with series 2 if it’s even commissioned.

i forgot to mention over the weekend i completed Masters of the Air.

I end up feeling torn on it. It is well put together, the special effects are great and it nails the terrifying ordeal those pilots went through (how the hell they ever went up on a 2nd mission knowing what they had to face again i will never know) so on that its a complete success. I also liked how other things were mentioned as going on in the background without ever actually getting bogged down in telling those stories (great escape etc)

but somehow unlike Band of Brothers and other series' of that ilk i never really invested in the characters. i didnt really care when they died, and therefore wasnt bothered when there was a twist a few episodes later, and also found many of them blended into each other so i didnt even notice when one died, or i would be convinced someone died and yet they were in the next scene. (maybe that was the point...... continual meat for the grinder, dont get too emotionally attached as they would probably die eventually, but it does not make for a great story)

over all it was probably worth my time, i am glad i watched it and would probably reccomend it, just dont go into it expecting to be as invested as you may have been in other similar series.

6.5/10

(also on a lighter note..... every time i saw the pilots in the front i could not get an old Carling Black label advert out of my head ;) )

Yeah I found it a series difficult to get invested in despite being well put together, etc.

I've just watched S2 of The Last of Us, which tbh I didn't think was all that great. It seems to be stretched out to me and tbh I don't really like Ellie and struggle to see her and Joel as the good guys...

I probably will watch S3 and S4, as it's not actually bad. It has some good effects and scenery and it is well-acted.

Had a Martial Arts week so re-watched Into the Badlands and Warrior. Both good shows although would give Warrior the edge as ItB expanded it's 'dark ones' premise too much making them less of a menacing force.

Although with Into the Badlands:
The 'dream world' where Sunny ended up with the Master telling him something worse is coming which is then revealed to be guns was really good and would have liked to have seen what they had planned.

Warrior should have gotten at least one more season, so many loose ends but the story up until then was great. Really enjoyable characters. Absolute shame it wasn't renewed for a 4th season.

Any other Martial Arts TV shows I should look out for?

Didn't see anything at the start... I only hope it improves, a few episodes in and it's been so boring!
I felt the same. Couldn't remember how the first season ended and then just couldn't get into it. Stopped watching halfway through the second season.

Farscape on Amazon.
Loved this show when it first came out and the Misses has never seen it.
4:3 ratio is a little jarring at first and the early CGI is ropey in places.

Utterly fantastic still though. One of my favourites.
