hi guys

what type adhesive do i need for wood panel on smooth plaster ceiling?

if you dont mind to link the products at B&Q store

cheers :)

Any multi-purpose adhesive should be fine, but I'd advise you to go to a local DIY or plastics shop as you'd probably save a lot of money. B&Q, MKM etc charge a fortune.

actually yes, can you explain what your doing please ? Last thing we would want is a load of wooden panel falling onto your head. If your wanting to actually permanently fix it there then it prolly should be secret fixed through its tongue as well as potentially adhered. More explanation needed tbh

Lots of adhesive types would secure the paneling to a plaster ceiling, but you may end up bringing your ceiling down with the extra weight. :(

The correct way would be to screw wood battens to the ceiling through the plasterboard and into the joists above. Then secure your panels to the battens using panel pins.

I would go for PinkGrip. Used this to put up the PVC cladding (And panel pins to give it time to ucre).
Smells awesome :)

Sticks like S.... and gripfill are also fantastic products.

alright guys :)

its for my kitchen ceiling which is artex, they are badly cracks everywhere. visited my friend's house last night. he got wood panel on his kitchen ceiling which does looked nice. paint them with white so cant see the wood effect if you know what i mean.

maybe too heavy

i could use this way http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/diy/cladding/

I hope you're going to attach it to the joists somehow? I wouldn't like a ceiling full of wood to be stuck to the ceiling by with the power of plaster

Yea, The methods described in your link is basically what I was talking about in my previous post in this thread.

It could be a bit over the top depending on your needs.

Do you need that sort of depth under the cladding, i.e downlighters etc?

If you just want a flat ceiling, some of the methods used in that link may be over the top. I would do all the battens at the same level, rather than two levels.

Remeber you must scew the battens to joists above the ceiling :D

Also, the guy in the link seems to be using planed timber rather than rough cut timber, which is a waste monywise, as it will never be seen after the cladding is done.

Anyway, if you could give me your full requirements and dimensions of your ceiling (tell me which direction your joists above are going also) and a link to the cladding you are getting, I can help you get a materials list together from B&Q plus some 3d pics on how to go about it.;)
