Looks like a Bombus lapidarius.

Oooh, check out the Latin on leon :D This one was quite large, probably about 1.5 inches in length, think it might have been a 'queen'?

Didn't we have a thread on this last summer involving feeding tired bees jam and all sorts? That was cool.

Yep :) I made a few bumbly friends, it was great :D
I found they preferred proper honey to golden syrup.

Now you see, I saw that thread, and remembered what do to when I saw a dying bee on my patio. However, I think I dumped too much honey near him and it oozed all over him and by time I fished him out with a pencil he had drowned. :(

That is one seriously good looking bee.

I think they're great but I'm still bloody scared of them even though I know they won't sting you for no reason, unlike friggin' wasps!

Nice pictures though. :)

Lol, WTF? That's funny, I'm gonna try it. :p

Yknow I see in the future some sort of honey trap involving a noose of string so you can capture a bee and make it your pet... hmmmm... *goes to draw up plans

Not bad for my phone are they?

All my normal carmera type stuff had just been put in the loft, which is a shame.

Great one Bri, next time try it with your finger :D

It is nearly that time of year again folks. Bee rescue is a very rewarding experience. Refuel them with a little honey or jam and they will soon buzz off again. The Bees convert the energy quicker with honey. It never ceases to amaze me when it happens
