Howdy,

I just installed XP on my brand new rig (I have Vista ultimate Retail, but I'm sticking with XP for a bit longer).

I have 2 Seagate 250gb SATA-II drives in my system, but I am NOT using them in a RAID config. I use the first disk for windows and installables, and my second drive simply stores all my important files (mp3s, documents, pictures etc).

Well what sorta partition would I want for this second drive? Would it be a Primary Partition? Or a Extended partition or or Logical drive? Cos nothing boots from this drive, it simple stores docs?

I've set it to Primary at the moment... but I want to make sure with you guys before I put anything on it... cos I can format it again otherwise!

Let me know please!

windows 2000 and later can see 4 primary partitions per drive. only if you need more than that would you need to start messing about with extended/logical partitions. :)
