To reply to the above, this is a good point. You could argue that games are typically 15 pounds or so cheaper on the PC than say the 360. So if you buy a game every month that is on both consoles, that is at least 100. (assuming you miss the odd month in buying a game and so on).
Argument that you need a HDTV though is a bit wrong, a HDTV is good for HD DVD for example.
Though you could argue that a faster PC is good for those of us who do more that just play games for example.
Really, I am not sure if PC gaming is so much more expensive (it IS more enpensive, I am not arguing that) than consoles. If you consider you can constantly sell your old GPU, and you go for the lower range stuff... for example an E6300 and overclock it, rather than going for the "by god, I just sold my house to buy my graphics card" technology.
