one nation under sony
full sim - rfactor, GTR2, iracing

semi sim -Gran turismo, forza , need for speed shift

Arcade - Mario kart, mod nation racers, burnout, need for speed most wanted

I prefer a mix of arcade and semi sim

what do you guys prefer?

I prefer a mix of all 3, currently playing proper sims Iracing/rfactor/live for speed but also enjoy gran turismo and forza.

The only arcade racer that matters is the PGR series, i'd say it's more semi sim compared to other arcade racing games.

good point of view

Semi sim, Forza...

Loved Dirt 1, dirt 2 was a letdown, was built for teenagers, bring back rally racing games!

At the moment I change between Forza 3 & Blur on the 360, I also like rFactor on the PC though.

So I guess all avenues are covered for me.

Codemasters, with their collin mcrae series.

Racing on the edge, you get bombed if you fail. Great combo that suits on screen gaming rally. Only my opinion, but it's a mix that stands above all else in terms the feedback you get.

Not realy a fan of arcade, but when it suits a game there's nothing wrong with it. Outrun coast to coast is the perfect doing it right, i enjoy playing that as much as i get out on playing nascar 2003 or gpl.

End of the day, it's the enjoyment you get out of it, arcade, balanced, or the serious stuff, don't matter what:)

Spot on, people ask why I play Dirt 2 after I was such a huge fan of Dirt 1, I answer the above. It is fun when you pull it off :)

I like every variety, good ol' blast on burnout, some fun on NFS shift and down to the nitty and gritty under the hood on rFactor.

Not played PC sims for sometime but racing games has always been my favourite type of game since "Night Driver".
Do quite enjoy i-racing though...

Recent Faves:
Gran Turismo
PGR
Forza

Classic Console Faves:
F355 (Dreamcast)
F1 Exhaust Heat / Fzero / Mario Kart (Snes)
Super Monaco GP (Megadrive)
Wipeout / Burnout (PS2)

Classic Arcade Faves:
Sega Rally Series
Daytona
Ridige Racer
Outrun
Super Monaco GP
Power Drift
Final Lap

Change in lifestyle with having family and less freetime these days has changed my playing habbits. Im sure many here can also relate to that. Consoles are much more suited to pick up and play with no real issues in updates/mods/patches/drivers to have to workaround. Dont know about you guys but in getting older and gaming since the late 70s means Im also getting harder to please or well maintain the same longterm interest in some recent racing games. I see more developers emulating/cloning other games or adding popular features. This has happened a lot rather than true advances from developers actually thinking on how they can take the genre further.

F1 2010 looks interesting in bringng new things like the most amazing looking weather and varied drying track and washing rubber. So it acts as a game changing factor. I like to see games move the boundaries and advance technically or try to redefine new gameplay mechanics. Of course to be challenging and exciting to play is what any good racing game needs.

Arcade I'm guessing / different kind of ones. I mostly like the spacey kind of ones like F-zero and wipeout but I enjoyed Motorstorm and Forza 2 was pretty good but GT and Forza aren't quite the same as F-zero. Stuff like Burnout was okay too but never liked need for speed, rally games or anything like that.
